WHAT WE DO

EDI specializes in offering specific solutions for individual clients. Our solutions are crafted with YOU in mind. EDI staff offers a  wide range of experience that includes policy, design, regulation, people, government, land, water, and habitat.

Our past, current, and future projects are focused on both local and international communities. International projects include the 2015 UN Climate Change Conference held in Paris, France; community design at the Puerto Penasco Sea of Cortez; Taiwan Community Development; project design in Shenzhen China; country of Bhutan.

DETAILED COMMUNITY DESIGN 

Scott designed a number of Award Winning Master Planned Communities as Sr Designer and /or as Design lead. Some of these projects include Marina Hills in Laguna Niguel, California, the Dominion in San Antonio, Texas portions of the Irvine Coast and the Irvine Ranch, and Golf Communities that included signature courses by Jack Nicklaus.  He has also prepared detailed community design for projects in Taichung, Taiwan and in Baja, Mexico. Many of these projects exceeded 1,500 acres in size.

POLICY AND REGULATORY DOCUMENTS 

Doreen and Scott have prepared General Plan and Housing Element Updates, Specific Plans, Comprehensive Plans, Zoning Code Revisions and Subdivision Regulations. Locations include Avila Beach, CA; Communities along the Central Coast of California and in the Inland Empire; Claremore / Rogers County Oklahoma, Okmulgee, Oklahoma and the City of Tulsa.

LAND USE PLANNING

Scott has prepared large scale (3,500 to 10,000 acres) land planning concepts for properties in northern and southern California , Colorado, Texas and Mexico. He has provided strategic planning support for projects in Costa Rica and Southern China.  One example is the Brisa Mar community south of Puerto Penasco on the Eastern shore of the Sea of Cortez. The project was over 8,000 acres in size with more than 14 miles of coastline.

CONSERVATION PLANS

Doreen facilitated and wrote a Strategic Regional Action Plan for the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation and the six Conservation Districts in the Region.  She worked as the lead advisor for the Coachella Valley Multi-Species Habitat Conservation Plan. Doreen also mediated meetings between the Bureau of Land Management, California Department of Fish and Game and the Land Conservancy to achieve consensus on remaining biological issues prior to finalizing the Carrizo Plain Resource Management Plan.

MEDIATION

Doreen facilitated the Regional Growth Readiness Workshop for the San Luis Obispo Council of  Governments. Participants included Mayors, Council Members, Board of Supervisors Members, Community Service District Members, City and County Planning Commissioners, SLOCOG Members, Cal Trans Representatives, Air Pollution Control District and School District Members, Public and Quasi-Public Advisory Board Members and Members of the Public.  Issues included state and regional water supply and quality, climate action plan strategies, transportation alternatives, funding sources and energy.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Doreen and Scott are available for advice, consultation project management and production with regard to mediation, and development of sustainable / healthy community. Drawing from our deep "bag of tools"  we are always available for mentoring, seminars, conferences and one-on-one sessions where we share the lessons that we've learned along the way.  We're energetic, innovative and experienced and we're dedicated to finding creative solutions that are custom crafted to each unique community or client.
