Chief Building Official
Rick has over 40 years of combined construction industry and Building Codes Professional experience. He has served as Chief Building Official a California county and three California city jurisdictions, worked as a licensed General Builder in the states of California and Nevada, a multi-prime Construction Manager for California Division of the State Architect K through 12 school construction projects, and most recently as a Sr. Project Manager for the $1.5B Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital Expansion project in Palo Alto, CA. A significant milestone educational achievement was obtaining International Code Council Master Code Professional certification – one of 1000+ persons worldwide that have completed the criteria for this level of jurisdictional professionalism.
As a professional Building Codes instructor, he has mentored and educated hundreds of Building Code Professionals through educational seminars and one-on-one training that include the Sacramento Valley Association of Building Officials, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and multiple bay area educational outreach events. Most recently Rick presented training to UC East Bay Construction Management graduate class specific to the “real world” activities encountered on an active construction site.
